Dubai's August Was Its Best Month Since February: 869,000 Visitors, Occupancy 66%

Dubai's tourism department reported 869,000 international visitors in August — double-digit monthly growth every month since March — and 6.97 million for January to August, about a third of the year's 20 million target. Hotel occupancy reached 66 percent, 89 percent of last August's level, from a March trough of 36 percent. Abu Dhabi's hotel guests are down 14.2 percent year to date. Read-through: the recovery is V-shaped month on month but the year is lost; GCC, European and South Asian visitors carry the winter.
