How we got here
- 28 Feb 2026 — U.S.–Israel war on Iran begins. Iran strikes Qatar in the opening weeks: Al Udeid hit 3 March; Ras Laffan struck 18 March, two of fourteen LNG trains and a GTL plant disabled — roughly 12.8 million tonnes of capacity.
- March–April — Qatar airspace partially closed; foreign carriers suspend Doha and resume from 20–22 April. March arrivals fall to 63,000.
- 17 June — A memorandum opens a 60-day negotiating window; Brent eases toward $72 by early July.
- 14 July — U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports begins.
- 17 August — Talks collapse; hostilities resume; U.S. revokes Iranian oil-sanctions waivers.
- 27 August — Qatar's Prime Minister proposes a managed Hormuz corridor and joint mine-clearing in Tehran.
